The truth about high blood pressure: You don’t need beta blockers or intensive aerobic exercise to keep it in the normal range
Doctors have been quiet about the simplicity it takes to lower blood pressure.
A ground-breaking discovery came up in the early 1970’s. Two doctors from New York published a study about brief muscle tension lowering blood pressure over time.
In 1992, Ronald Wiley decided to test this out with eight young men, using 30% of their maximum grip for 2 minutes, 3 times a week for 8 weeks. These men dropped 13 points in their blood pressure.
Furthermore, Wiley’s findings were retested by Danielle Bentley and her colleagues and they confirmed positive results.
Why hasn’t this been talked about more?
Doctors have known that increasing your hand grip often works as well as medications.
What does overdrive have to do with high blood pressure
The higher your heart is pumping, the more pressure there is.
When you have high blood pressure, your heart is working hard to deliver blood to the rest of your body. If it works in overdrive, your blood will pound against the walls of your arteries and potentially hyperintense, which can lead to a stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, and cardiovascular disease.
The good news is…
Your heart is a muscle! You can work to strengthen it by doing brief, moderate tension exercises and your blood pressure will decrease.
Your heart will get better at pumping and bring more oxygen to your working muscles. You won’t tire as fast and you will stay healthy.
If you want to take a holistic approach, you can work on stability training to improve your life balance, mind and body exercises to reduce stress, and flexibility exercises to increase the range of motion in your joints.

- Speed walking
- Lifting weights
- Jumping rope
- Body weight squats
